American Gold Eagle proof mintages
Ok guys I need some help with this. I am looking for the mintage totals for the various years and denomination of the American Gold Eagles proofs. Does anyone have this info?
The mint has a web page for the mintages of the business strikes http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/...=MintageTotals but none, or a least I haven't found it, for the proof coins. I did find this page http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/...american_proof which if you do some addition work you should be able to come up with mintage numbers right? If you open the page you will see a chart for the year 2003. If we add the total unit sales amount in the 4 coins set to each of the individual coin we should get the total mintage for each denomination. For example for the 2003 1/2 ounce there were 7758 sold singlely + 20512 sold in the 4 coin set = 28270 1/2 oz GAE proofs minted in 2003. I called customer relations at the mint and spoke with someone about this and he told me he wasn't sure of the accuracy of this web page:frown: so can some varify this to being accurate? |

Re: American Gold Eagle proof mintages
Silverwood, are you thinking that if that 19K number is real, that this would be a good coin to be on the lookout for? Are you looking for the lowest mintage number to concentrate on?

Re: American Gold Eagle proof mintages
By the way, there are many on ebay right now, at varying prices.
search "gold eagle 1999 $5" Completed ones are interesting to see, also. They are selling at widely varying prices. Some are from sellers with little feedback. But some are selling at a good price from established sellers. Do you have a price cutoff or quality level? Graded or not? LG :smokin: |
Re: American Gold Eagle proof mintages
Hmmm, I recently purchsed 2 1999 1/10 oz Eagles for just under $75 each.

.......1.75 million unc + 48k proof = almost 1.8 million 1/10 GAEs with the 1999 date stamped on them. whereas the 1988 1/10 had 159k unc minted and the 1991 1/10 had 165.2k unc minted. |
Re: American Gold Eagle proof mintages
someone kick me, had a chance to buy a 4 coin proof set today @ 2245 and passed (let the price scare me). I get home and start thinking about it, a proof set for nearly an UNC price :thumb.aspx:. I know I missed a proof set for a good price but just could not part w/ that much frn. but it sure were pretty.

Re: American Gold Eagle proof mintages
they don't make it easy... but it's there.
http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/...oof#salesTable as you stated... but looking this is sales not mintage. So add the 4coin set to its individual size. |
